Session one: 11:40 – 12:40
What is holding us back to decarbonise? A policy, operators, and finance view.
Presented by River Cruise Europe/ European River Cruise Association
This session will determine and highlight the relationship between the legislative framework that governs inland waterways and the coastal areas of Europe versus the timeline banks, operators, and NGOs are asking for. Is there a disconnect between these timelines? Are there differences between the timelines set for ocean-going vessels versus river-based vessels? Will the sector wait until 2050, or are there dynamics that warrant a faster movement?

Session two: 13:30 – 14:30
Why are technology and fuel not ready to be deployed – or is it? An engineer and energy provider perspective.
Presented by River Cruise Europe/ European River Cruise Association
The crucial question that is frequently asked… Is the fuel infrastructure and the technology ready to decarbonise today? In this session, we will find energy providers, technology companies and ship engineers coming together to discuss the sample of an Inland waterway cruise vessel and whether the ship can be decarbonised today or not. Legislation and funding will find space in the discussion, followed by a clear distinction between molecules and electrons that may find their way onto the vessels.
